Hemispheres è il sesto album in studio della band progressive rock canadese Rush, uscito il 29 ottobre 1978.
Nel giugno del 2015 la rivista Rolling Stone ha collocato l'album alla undicesima posizione dei 50 migliori album progressive di tutti i tempi.
Con Hemispheres i Rush raggiungono il massimo del loro fulgore. Specie nella prima facciata, interamente occupata dalla maestosa suite Cygnus X-1, Book II: Hemispheres, 18 e passa minuti di goduria hard prog sinfonico-spaziale, con i testi di Neil Peart che analizzano (nel contesto di una vicenda fantascientifica cominciata nel precedente A Farewell to Kings e qui portata a termine) l’eterna dualità tra istinto e ragione. Sulla seconda facciata poi i tre ci danno dentro a dimostrare tutta la loro maestria agli strumenti nei folli equilibrismi di La Villa Strangiato. Da qui al prog metal il passo è brevissimo.
